Hoops hater Ally McCoist issues response to Troy Deeney after he claimed Kris Boyd’s beloved Mediocre Rangers are NO LONGER Guaranteed to Win like Celtic after 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock

Gabby Agbonlahor has cast doubt on Rangers’ reliability following their shock 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday, 20 October.

The loss at Rugby Park has raised concerns over the side’s consistency and piled pressure on manager Philippe Clement, as the Light Blues missed a crucial opportunity to close the gap on Celtic and Aberdeen at the summit of the Scottish Premiership.

Instead of gaining ground, Rangers now find themselves languishing in fourth place, one point ahead of Dundee United and trailing the league leaders by six points. With two league defeats already this season, any sense of invulnerability appears to have faded.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning (23 October, 7:54am), Agbonlahor shared his surprise:

“I switched the game on, it was the 83rd minute and Rangers are losing… What?” His shock was echoed by former Rangers striker Ally McCoist, who responded simply: “Agony. Agony.”

Agbonlahor went on: “Before, it was guaranteed that Rangers would win, Celtic win, Rangers win, Celtic win. Now, Rangers aren’t guaranteed to win.”

The loss has intensified scrutiny on Clement, who faces a tough task turning around the Gers’ fortunes. Many supporters are already writing off Rangers’ title chances for the 2024/25 season, with Celtic and Aberdeen six points clear at the top and showing little sign of slowing down.

Though Rangers remain active in Europe, with an important tie against Romanian side FCSB on the horizon, fans appear more focused on domestic matters.

Attention is firmly on the upcoming clash with Aberdeen on Wednesday, 30 October – a fixture many believe could seal Clement’s fate. Rumours are swirling that a defeat in that match could lead to the manager’s dismissal.

The gulf between Rangers and their Old Firm rivals Celtic seems to be widening, leaving Clement under mounting pressure to restore belief at Ibrox.

His task is clear: he must inspire his squad to start delivering consistent results, or risk seeing the club slip further from contention. Whether he can rally the players and the fans remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – time is running out.
