West Ham United want to sign Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United, but David Moyes does not want him in his squad, according to the Daily Mail.
They report on their website (2 January) that the Red Devils are “desperate to offload” Sancho in the winter window after he parted ways with manager Erik Ten Hag.
Several clubs, including West Ham, are interested in the winger, but Moyes is said to be reluctant about a deal and his £250,000-a-week wage is also a major obstacle.
“United are desperate to offload Sancho in this transfer window after parting company with manager Erik Ten Hag, which has left the £73million player training alone at Carrington for the last four months,” they wrote.
“Sources at United say Sancho’s situation is being monitored by “several clubs”, including reportedly West Ham.
“However, it is understood David Moyes is not prepared to take the 23-year-old on loan until the end of the season and the player’s £250,000-a-week wage would also be an obstacle.”
Sancho is certainly a great footballer when he is at his best, but we haven’t seen that version for some time.
His time at Manchester United was marred by fitness problems, poor form and disciplinary problems which led to him publicly breaking with the manager, which meant the end of his time at the club.
However, at West Ham, we have no room for this kind of attention and trouble at the club, which means that we simply have to avoid it.
The winger options currently at the club are already very good and Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus form a great partnership that we don’t need anything to distract from.
Moyes is probably right this time and although the fans would love to have a fun alternative in the squad to spice things up, Sancho is not the solution and financially he wouldn’t be worth the hassle either.
