Optimism had been high among the traveling fans following the dismissal of Steve Cooper and the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who watched from the stands. However, the new manager will have been bitterly disappointed by what he witnessed.
Leicester took the lead through Facundo Buonanotte in the 21st minute, but the advantage was short-lived.
Yoane Wissa equalized for Brentford just four minutes later, and Kevin Schade’s first-half brace ensured the Bees went into the break with a commanding 3-1 lead.
Any hopes of a Leicester comeback were extinguished in the 59th minute when Brentford added a fourth goal to secure all three points.
Fans Turn on Director of Football Jon Rudkin
Leicester fans, frustrated with the performance, didn’t hold back. While there was criticism for James Justin and Wout Faes on social media—both of whom had torrid afternoons defensively—much of the ire from the stands was directed at Director of Football Jon Rudkin.
Chants of “We want Rudkin out!” echoed around the away end as fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the club’s leadership.
Rudkin has been under fire for years, with supporters pointing to missed transfer targets and questionable recruitment decisions as key issues.
Wout Faes, one of Rudkin’s signings, has struggled to justify his place in the team, and Patson Daka’s failed transfer last summer has only added to the discontent. With Leicester needing reinforcements in January, fans are desperate for Rudkin to deliver.
The defeat leaves Van Nistelrooy with a daunting task ahead, but for many fans, the problems at Leicester go beyond the players and deep into the club’s management.
