Pundits Agree the Title Race is Done
Rangers-supporting pundit Derek Ferguson has admitted that there is no realistic way for his former club to catch Celtic at this point. Speaking on Open Goal’s Keeping the Ball on the Ground podcast, Ferguson was blunt about the situation.
“Is the league over in December? Aye. I don’t see Rangers making that up,” he said.
Former Scotland international James McFadden echoed the sentiment, adding: “Well, Celtic are gonna win the league.”
Despite acknowledging Celtic’s dominance, Ferguson still holds out hope that Rangers can at least prevent their rivals from going unbeaten in the league.
“No, I’m just thinking somewhere along the line that Rangers will beat them, put a dent in them,” he said. “I’m hoping it’s in 10 days time by the way! I’ve got a wee feeling. But they’re in a great place.”
Premier Sports Cup Takes Focus
Rangers have a chance to derail Celtic’s momentum when the two sides meet in the Premier Sports Cup final on December 15 at Hampden Park. Ferguson, however, is clear about his priorities.
“Would I take winning the Premier Sports Cup but Celtic go unbeaten in the league? All day, would you not?” he asked.
For now, Celtic remain in pole position for domestic dominance, while Rangers are left clinging to hopes of a Hampden upset and a chance to salvage their season with silverware.
