Timo Werner is reportedly set to return to the Premier League this month.
Werner made his name at RB Leipzig, where he scored an impressive 28 league goals in the 2019/20 season.
His goalscoring exploits in the Bundesliga prompted Chelsea to act, as they activated his £47.5 million release clause.
But the star striker has not proved his worth in the English league, scoring just 10 league goals in two seasons with the club.
Werner has returned to RB Leipzig, but is on the verge of a return to the Premier League.
According to Florian Plettenberg, 27-year-old Werner is set to sign a six-month loan deal at Tottenham.
Talks are ongoing between Leipzig and Spurs to agree a transfer.
Werner is said to be willing to leave Leipzig’s training camp and link up with Ange Postecoglou’s squad in London.
The north London club appear to have fended off competition from Manchester United, who are reportedly interested in the player this month.
Erik ten Hag is said to be keen on acquiring a striker to help Rasmus Hojlund, who has scored just one league goal this season.
Werner scored 16 goals in all competitions in his first season in Germany after a nightmare at Stamford Bridge.
He scored 23 goals in 89 games for the Blues in all competitions and won the Champions League during his time at the club.
Spurs are hoping to capitalise on Werner’s form from his first spell at Leipzig. He has scored 95 goals in 159 appearances in all competitions.
Postecoglou is currently without star player and captain Son Heung-Min, who is on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup.
He has Richarlison and Ale Veliz at his disposal, as it looks like he will be using Werner’s services until the end of the season.
