Everton striker Beto is reportedly unsettled at Goodison Park and could be on the move during the January transfer window.
According to La Stampa via Tutto Mercato Web (9 December), Italian side Torino have identified the 26-year-old as their top target and are keen to secure his services next month.
Beto has requested to leave Everton, but any transfer would need to be a permanent deal rather than a loan with an obligation to buy, as reported by Tuttosport (10 December).
This stance may complicate negotiations, but it reflects Everton’s preference to finalise a clean break should the forward depart.
Former Everton scout Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, confirmed Beto’s dissatisfaction on Merseyside.
“It looks a long way back for Beto at Everton,” King said.
“You don’t want unhappy players around a football club. This is an opportunity for Beto to head out on a loan, with an option to buy. It sounds like it is right for Everton and right for the player.
“Therefore, the club need to agree to it, and the player needs to move on. He’s obviously unhappy because if you’re happy at a football club, you’re not going to be asking to get away, are you?”
Beto’s frustrations are understandable, given his limited opportunities this season. The striker has barely featured and has scored just once in the Premier League. With playing time hard to come by under Sean Dyche, a fresh start appears to be his priority.
However, Dyche faces a tough decision. If Beto departs, Everton will need to ensure the squad has enough depth to cope with the loss.
For now, Beto’s exit depends on whether a club is willing to meet Everton’s demand for a permanent transfer in January.
