Leicester’s loan star Facundo Buonanotte has expressed his desire for Tottenham’s young forward Alejo Veliz to join him at the King Power Stadium, hoping to reignite the partnership they enjoyed at Rosario Central.

The Argentine midfielder, currently on loan from Brighton, has urged his former teammate to consider a move to Leicester, believing it could help Veliz rediscover his best form.

Veliz, 21, is currently on loan at Espanyol from Spurs, where he has struggled, scoring just four goals in 15 appearances, only one of which came in LaLiga.

Espanyol’s dire form, languishing in the relegation zone with just four wins, has fueled speculation that Veliz’s loan spell could be cut short.

Buonanotte is keen to see Veliz join him at Leicester and learn from one of the Premier League’s most celebrated strikers. Speaking to Ole, he said:

“I would tell Tanque [Alejo] Véliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy. He is on loan, but now he is at Tottenham, so I think he knows about this. During the time we were at Central, we made a nice duo.”

Veliz joined Tottenham in a £13 million deal in August 2023 but has struggled to find his footing in Europe.

A brief spell at Sevilla, where he donned the iconic No.10 shirt once worn by Diego Maradona, failed to provide a breakthrough.

His current stint at Espanyol has been similarly underwhelming, and a move to Leicester could offer a fresh start.

Jamie Vardy, Leicester’s talisman, could be pivotal in helping Veliz reignite his career. The former non-league striker has become a Premier League legend, scoring 142 top-flight goals and famously leading Leicester to their historic title in 2015/16.

Known for his finishing and pace, Vardy’s ability to bring teammates into play is often overlooked, with 47 Premier League assists to his name—one more than England captain Harry Kane.

Leicester are in a precarious position, sitting 17th in the Premier League and battling to avoid relegation in their first season back.

With the recent appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager, following the dismissal of Steve Cooper, the club is looking for fresh inspiration.

Buonanotte believes Veliz could thrive under Van Nistelrooy’s guidance and alongside him at Leicester, offering a glimmer of hope for the Foxes in their fight for survival.
