Ruud van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten run at the King Power Stadium came to a crashing halt as Leicester City were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Wolves.

The Foxes endured a disastrous first half, with Vitor Pereira’s men racing into an unassailable lead. Goals from Gonçalo Guedes, Rodrigo Gomes, and Mattheus Cunha left Leicester stunned and the home crowd seething with frustration.

Danny Ward and James Justin were singled out for criticism, with boos ringing out as the team trudged off at halftime. Yet, the anger from the King Power faithful wasn’t limited to the players, as van Nistelrooy’s team selection also came under fire.

Fans Question Van Nistelrooy’s Selection Choices

With first-choice goalkeeper Mads Hermansen sidelined through injury, van Nistelrooy opted to start Danny Ward over Daniel Iversen, a decision that raised eyebrows. However, it was the exclusion of Facundo Buonanotte from the starting lineup that truly baffled supporters.

One fan on social media fumed: “Ayew pick is just as baffling to me. He was absolutely useless against Brighton. Offers nothing in attack and does just as much defensive work as our other wingers. Buonanotte is 10x more creative.”

Despite eventually being introduced as an 84th-minute substitute, many were left questioning why the talented Argentine wasn’t brought on earlier. Another fan vented: “De Cordova-Reid over Buonanotte? What on earth is that from RVN?”

Ayew Fails to Deliver

The decision to start Jordan Ayew over Buonanotte backfired spectacularly. While the 19-year-old Argentine has been one of Leicester’s most creative players this season, contributing six Premier League goal involvements, Ayew struggled once again.

Labeled as “lazy” following his performance against Brighton, the Ghanaian failed to make an impact against Wolves, leaving fans questioning van Nistelrooy’s faith in the misfiring forward.

For van Nistelrooy, this defeat raises significant concerns about his tactical decisions and Leicester’s ability to bounce back in the coming fixtures.
