Sky Sports has released its mid-season report card for all 12 Scottish Premiership teams, with high praise reserved for Brendan Rodgers’ table-topping Celtic side.
Celtic earned a near-perfect score of 9.5/10, with the broadcaster describing their performance as “barely putting a foot wrong” throughout the opening months of the 2024/25 season.
The reigning champions have impressed domestically and in Europe, solidifying their reputation as the team to beat.
Aberdeen, despite slipping in form recently, were recognized for their strong start to the campaign, earning a respectable 7.5 rating.
Their early-season efforts included a commendable 2-2 draw at Celtic Park in October, though they have struggled to maintain that level of performance.
In stark contrast, Hearts and Hibs have been heavily criticized for their underwhelming displays, receiving scores of 2/10 and 3/10 respectively.
Both Edinburgh clubs find themselves at the wrong end of the table, battling to turn their fortunes around.
Rangers also received a harsh evaluation, with a score of ‘3/10‘ reflecting their disappointing start to the season. While their recent form has improved, their early struggles have left them trailing their Glasgow rivals.
Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic: A Dominant Force
Sky Sports highlighted Celtic’s resurgence under Brendan Rodgers, noting the seamless progress made this season:
“Celtic stumbled in parts last season after the departure of Ange Postecoglou and the return of Brendan Rodgers, with the Parkhead side in somewhat of a transitional phase as their old boss reacquainted himself in the east end of Glasgow.
“There was a feeling last term that there were gaps to sneak through or vulnerabilities to exploit. This season Celtic have barely put a foot wrong. Aberdeen threatened to lay down a title challenge with a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park in October but, in truth, the game could have been over at half-time with Celtic two goals to the good.
“Rodgers’ side have been perfect since that draw, and have conceded just four league goals all season.
“They have been ruthless domestically and progressed in Europe, with much-improved performances on the continent, while they also bagged the first trophy on offer this season after a somewhat controversial win over Rangers in the League Cup final earlier this month.”
With Celtic setting the benchmark and others striving to catch up, the second half of the season promises to be pivotal for teams across the league.
