The Phoenix Suns have struggled recently, going 4-6 in their last 10 games, and it’s clear they’ll be looking to make some moves before the NBA trade deadline.

Could a major acquisition like Jimmy Butler be on their radar, or will they target another player to improve their roster? According to Evan Sidery, one name to watch is Dorian Finney-Smith.

Sidery noted:
“Phoenix is seeking more defensive versatility and size on the wing, which Finney-Smith would provide.”

He also mentioned that the Suns could “make salaries work” by trading players like Jusuf Nurkic or Grayson Allen, or potentially involving a third team to facilitate the deal.

Is Finney-Smith the Right Fit for the Suns?

This season, Finney-Smith has been averaging 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. Known for his catch-and-shoot ability and solid defense, he could bring much-needed versatility to Phoenix’s wing position.

Celebrated for his ability to guard multiple positions, he would likely complement the Suns’ existing lineup well.

While Finney-Smith would be a valuable addition, competition for his services is expected, with teams like the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly interested in him as well. If the Suns move forward with a pursuit, they may need to act decisively to secure him.

Could More Moves Be Coming?

Currently sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference, the Suns are far from where they want to be. While Finney-Smith could address some of their issues, additional changes might be necessary to truly elevate their standing.

Whether or not they land Finney-Smith, it’s possible that more roster adjustments are on the horizon as the Suns aim to climb back into contention.
