Deal Announcement – “I’m delighted to get this done, I’m really happy to be here” – Tottenham seal transfer move for 20-year old midfield star, jersey number REVEALED

Rovers are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Midfielder Matthew Craig from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old will spend the rest of the season at the Eco-Power Stadium and could be included in the squad for Saturday’s clash with Newport County.

“I’m delighted to get this done,” said Craig. “I’m really happy to be here.

“The history and the size of the club is incredible. The manager, his philosophy of how he wants to play, I think it really fits with what I’m trying to do as well. I’m very happy to be here.”

Barnet-born Craig has been with Spurs since U12 level and signed his first professional contract with the Premier League club in 2021. He is also capable of playing at centre or full-back and signed a new long-term deal after making his senior debut last summer.

The Scotland U21 international has spent the last few years training with Tottenham’s first team and came off the bench on the final day of the 2022/23 season in a 4-1 win over Leeds United. He has been an unused reserve on several occasions, including Europa League matches.

Rovers manager Grant McCann said. We have been following Matthew since the summer window closed and we have watched a number of games and made a number of reports on him.

“He comes here with a good pedigree and is ready for a challenge.

“He’s going to be a very good player and to get him so early is great.”

Matthew will wear the number 37 jersey during his time with Rovers.
