Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper José Sá has praised the impact of manager Vítor Pereira, highlighting the changes he has brought to the team since his arrival.
Somos Fanaticos reported Sá’s comments to DAZN, where he expressed his satisfaction with Pereira’s influence at Molineux. Pereira was appointed Wolves’ manager a month ago, replacing Gary O’Neil following a poor start to the season.
When Pereira took over, Wolves were languishing in 19th place in the Premier League, five points adrift of safety. His appointment came in the aftermath of a tumultuous 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town, which saw on-field altercations involving players and staff.
The Portuguese coach made an immediate impact, guiding Wolves to back-to-back wins over Leicester City and Manchester United in his first two matches.
Since then, the team has secured 10 points from five Premier League games and advanced to the FA Cup fourth round after defeating Bristol City.
Optimism has returned to Molineux, and there is renewed belief that Wolves can climb out of the relegation zone. They are currently 18th, level on points with Ipswich, and just one point behind Everton in 16th.
Sá has been particularly impressed with Pereira’s approach and the changes he has implemented since taking over.
“The mentality is different. When things aren’t going well and you change coaches, it’s always different,” he said.
“Mister Vítor Pereira has a lot of quality as a coach. We all know, and it came to help us a lot on a defensive level, on a team level, to all play together and want the same.
“Above all, it gave us belief again. So now we enter the field and believe that everything will work out and that we will do things well. And it has worked, thank God.”
Pereira’s arrival has clearly revitalized the squad, and the focus now will be on continuing this positive momentum to secure Premier League survival.
