Nottingham Forest are believed to have secured a new contract agreement, in principle, with centre-back Murillo following an exceptional start to the current season.
The Brazilian defender joined Forest from Corinthians in the summer of 2023, initially signing a five-year deal upon his arrival at the City Ground.
Since his move, the 22-year-old has rapidly adapted to life in the Premier League, delivering a string of standout performances.
Under Nuno Espirito Santo this season, Murillo has forged a formidable partnership at the core of Forest’s defence with fellow summer signing Nikola Milenkovic. Together, they have been instrumental in achieving eight clean sheets so far this campaign.
Signed for a modest £15 million, Murillo’s market value has skyrocketed due to his consistent excellence.
Inevitably, this has attracted transfer speculation linking him with moves away from Forest. However, it seems the club need not worry about losing their rising star anytime soon.
Reports indicate that Murillo has agreed, in principle, to an improved and extended deal, which would see him remain with Forest until the summer of 2029.
It’s undoubtedly an exciting time to be part of the club, with Forest currently sitting third in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal and just six behind league leaders Liverpool.
Murillo’s impressive development has also caught the attention of the Brazilian national team. In November, he earned his first call-up, albeit as an unused substitute, for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay.
The recognition highlights the significant progress he has made, prompting Forest to secure his long-term future as one of their most valuable assets.
