Radu Dragusin has not yet completed his transfer to Tottenham, but his agent is already looking to the future.
The 21-year-old central defender is on the verge of transferring to the Lillywhites for £25.8 million ($32.8 million) after turning down Bayern Munich, and will sign a contract that will reportedly run until 2029.
However, Dragusin’s agent Florin Manea hinted during the excitement that the player has higher goals and will use Tottenham to gain experience so that he could eventually move to football giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Speaking to Romanian network Digi Sport, Manea said. We were close, Bayern is one of the biggest clubs, but his dream is Real or Barcelona. If he was 23 or 24 years old and had more experience, maybe he would have chosen Bayern, but we took a lot of things into account; his age and the competition. In three or four years I see him at Real Madrid.”
When Dragusin steps into the Tottenham arena, Djed Spence will be heading in the opposite direction, which acted as a deal sweetener for Genoa. The Romanian played a key role in the Italian side’s promotion from Serie B to the top flight, making sure it was all tight and also scoring four goals during the campaign.
After Dragusins’ arrival, Eric Dier also moved to Bayern Munich. The centre-back is already in Munich and is on the verge of signing a permanent contract with the Bavarians to revive his fading career ahead of Euro 2024.
Dragusin could make his debut on Sunday against Manchester United in a spectacular Premier League clash at Old Trafford. But he may need some time to adapt to the methods of Ange Postecoglou. The coach is known for playing high up and asking his central defenders to carry the ball from the back.
