In-demand Hamza Igamane has thanked his agents for bringing him to Rangers – as the striker insisted it would be his “responsibility” if he fails at Ibrox amid transfer exit murmurs.
The Moroccan has emerged as the first-choice frontman at Ibrox this season after netting 13 goals for Philippe Clement’s side following his summer arrival from AS FAR.
Reports south of the border have suggested Everton, Tottenham, West Ham, Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Brentford and Fulham have shown an interest in the prospect who arrived for £1.7million last summer.
There are even claims the Toffees are ready to make their move for the frontman after an injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
But the 22-year-old doesn’t appear to be taking any notice of the rumour mill as the new Light Blues’ hero sets his focus on ramping up his scoring numbers in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to Onze Mondial, he said: “I would like to thank my agents for the professional work they have done, firstly by choosing the team that would be my first professional destination outside Morocco. And by accompanying me in a way that made it easy for me to integrate.
“Here, it is clear that they have chosen the league which suits me well. Rangers are a club with a huge history. Thank God, I scored a lot of goals right from the start and generally had a successful start in Europe. I’m very happy about that. It’s true that in terms of climate, there’s a big difference between Morocco and Scotland. But that’s the daily grind of football.
“You have to work, hang in there, give your best, and then there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work. Honestly, I’ve been put in the best conditions here. We have all the resources to succeed at this club, so it’s up to me to take responsibility.”
After featuring in three clashes with Celtic already this season, Igamane also insists he loves when Old Firm derby day rolls around in Glasgow.
He added: “It was a magnificent derby. In this kind of match, you feel all the passion, all the fervour of these people for football, especially in this city. It’s really an impressive rivalry between the two clubs.
“When you’re on the pitch, you feel this rage to win. And in terms of the atmosphere in the stands, it was really great. Personally, I really enjoyed the match.”
