Attacker Emmanuel Dennis is on the verge of completing a deadline-day departure from Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old is set to join Blackburn Rovers. According to The Standard, it will be a six-month loan deal, with Forest having “decided against” including an option to buy.

Dennis is reportedly set to undergo a medical before the move is finalized. He has been linked with several clubs, but it appears Rovers have won the race for his signature.

The Nigerian has fallen out of favor at the City Ground. He was excluded from Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the season and has not featured for the club since May 2023.

Reports indicated that Dennis held discussions with his former club Watford, as well as French side Toulouse, about a potential move. German team Werder Bremen was also said to be interested, while Sheffield Wednesday were recently linked.

Dennis joined Forest from Watford in the summer of 2022 for a reported £20 million fee. He has made 25 appearances for the Reds, scoring two goals.

His last appearance for Forest came as a substitute against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2022/23 season. He spent last season on loan at Turkish club Basaksehir and later returned to Vicarage Road.

Heading into transfer deadline day, Forest had few fringe players left to offload. Like Dennis, midfielder Lewis O’Brien was among those, and he has now completed a loan move to Swansea City.

Further departures from the City Ground before the 11pm deadline are unlikely. Earlier on deadline day, Forest allowed midfielder James Ward-Prowse to return to his parent club, West Ham United.

If Dennis’ move to Ewood Park goes through as expected, he will join former Forest player Yuri Ribeiro in Blackburn’s squad. The left-back has signed for Rovers from Portuguese side Braga on a permanent deal until the end of the season.
