Young Leicester City defender Tom Wilson-Brown has secured a loan move to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock and has also signed a new contract with the Foxes.
The 20-year-old center-back is set to spend the final months of the year north of the border, marking his first significant experience of senior football. He joins a Kilmarnock team currently positioned ninth in the Scottish top flight.
However, by signing a new contract extension until 2026 before his departure, it’s evident that Wilson-Brown’s loan is aimed at fostering his development for a potential future at the King Power Stadium, rather than preparing him for a career elsewhere.
The highly-rated defender has been part of Leicester City’s first-team setup for the past couple of years.
Wilson-Brown has featured in pre-season friendlies over the last two years and earned a spot in a competitive matchday squad in December, making the bench for the 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
He will be hoping for more playing time than midfielder Sammy Braybrooke, who was recalled by Leicester City from his loan spell at Dundee after limited opportunities in the first half of the season.
Wilson-Brown’s move marks the second confirmed deal of deadline day for Leicester, following the loan of Will Alves to Championship side Cardiff.
