ZeeboiNottingham Forest made several signings during the summer transfer window, with Paraguay international Ramon Sosa among the 11 new additions to the squad.
The Reds focused on quality over quantity when it came to their summer recruitment. However, there was still some flexibility to bring in a South American talent.
Sosa joined Forest from Argentine club Talleres, and it was expected that he would become a regular in the team. At 25 years old, he didn’t appear to be a signing for the future, but his time at the club has been frustrating so far.
The winger has seen limited action in the Premier League during the 2024/25 season. In fact, he was an unused substitute in Forest’s emphatic 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground last season.
Sosa has been linked with a potential exit from Forest. However, new information has emerged that sheds light on the player’s commitment to the club, despite his lack of playing time.

According to Versus, Forest received a highly lucrative offer to sell Sosa during the January transfer window. However, the club stood firm and consulted the winger about his preference, with Sosa expressing his desire to remain at Forest.
An unnamed European club was reportedly keen to offer Sosa a fresh opportunity during the mid-season transfer window. However, the Paraguay international, who is under contract until 2029, appears to value his long-term deal with Forest.
Vasco da Gama had also shown interest in signing Sosa during the summer transfer window. At the time, the offer didn’t seem to align with Forest’s valuation, but it now appears that Sosa is content to stay and fight for his place at the club.

The winger has already made an impact during his debut Premier League campaign. He scored the equalizing goal in Forest’s 2-2 draw against Brighton in October and has shown glimpses of his potential.
However, his opportunities have been limited due to fierce competition for places. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga have primarily occupied the wide positions, with Jota Silva providing additional depth.
It’s encouraging that Sosa chose not to seek a move away from the club. He has performed well when given the chance, contributing a goal and an assist in Forest’s FA Cup third-round victory over Luton in January.
More playing time could be on the horizon for Sosa as Forest face Exeter in the FA Cup on Tuesday night. The decision to retain the winger, despite interest in January, could prove to be a wise one as the season progresses.
