Queens Park’s Louis Longridge made sure to honor Celtic after the Spiders delivered a stunning upset by knocking Rangers out of the Scottish Cup yesterday at Ibrox.
Longridge, who started the match in central midfield, played a pivotal role in the victory, setting up Seb Drozd’s decisive goal in the 69th minute.
As relative underdogs heading into the clash, Queens Park faced immense pressure, especially after Celtic had comfortably defeated Championship opposition the night before. All eyes were on Rangers to see if they could replicate a similar result.
Despite Rangers fielding a strong lineup, Callum Davidson’s tactical approach proved spot-on, with Queens Park goalkeeper Calum Ferrie delivering a standout performance to secure the win.
Following the match, Longridge took to social media to celebrate a “beautiful Sunday,” a nod to Celtic, who often play the 1972 Daniel Boone classic after their Glasgow derby victories.
The triumph ensures Queens Park’s place in tonight’s quarter-final draw, with St Mirren vs. Hearts being the final match of the round. The draw will be conducted live on BBC Scotland after the game at the SMISA Stadium.
With Aberdeen, Dundee, Hibernian, St Johnstone, Livingston, and Queen’s Park all securing their spots in the next round, the quarter-finals are scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, 8th March.
