Wolves were among the most active Premier League teams during the January transfer window, securing three mid-season signings.
Vitor Pereira bolstered his defense and midfield by bringing in Emmanuel Agbadou, followed by the Deadline Day arrivals of Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.
These winter acquisitions made Wolves the second-highest spenders in the January window, trailing only reigning champions Manchester City.
In line with Pereira’s long-term vision, several departures are anticipated at the end of the season, with one player in particular expected to move on.
End of the road for Pablo Sarabia:
Pablo Sarabia joined Wolves from Paris Saint-Germain during the January 2023 transfer window. The Spanish midfielder signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, meaning his deal expires at the end of the current season.
Sarabia’s performances this campaign have not justified a contract extension, leading Nathan Judah and Liam Keen to predict that the 32-year-old’s time at Molineux is nearing its end.
“I just don’t see him [Sarabia] starting a lot of games between now and the end of May,” Keen said on the E&S podcast.
Judah added: “I’m almost certain that Pablo Sarabia won’t be a Wolves player next season. If you look at his career as a Wolves player, I think probably you’re going to say it’s been disappointing, I think that’s fair to say. It’s not been a success, has it?”
Sarabia’s contract is worth £90,000 per week, placing him among Wolves’ highest earners (Capology).
Vitor Pereira’s new era:
Sarabia will not be remembered as a standout figure in Wolves’ history.
The Spaniard has contributed just 17 direct goal involvements in 64 appearances across all competitions. While Wolves paid Paris Saint-Germain only £4.4 million for his services, they would have expected a far greater impact from Sarabia.
His disastrous performance against Liverpool in their last outing may have sealed his fate, making it unlikely he will feature for Wolves again.
The impressive contributions of Marshall Munetsi and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in the final third during the match at Anfield are likely to earn them starting roles this weekend against Bournemouth, further diminishing Sarabia’s standing within the squad.
