DONE DEAL – Fabrizio confirms Tottenham have completed the transfer deal for 27-year old electrifying star after reaching agreement with Premier League club, Medicals TODAY

Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon will undergo a medical at Brentford on Wednesday before signing a loan deal.

The two clubs have agreed that the left-sided defender will move to London this month after the Spaniard returned from a previous loan spell at Manchester United.

If Reguilon passes his medical, the contract is expected to be ratified today.

Brentford are without first choice left-back Rico Henry, who has suffered a cruciate ligament injury this season.

Signing a new full-back was a priority for Bees boss Thomas Frank.

Reguilon could leave Spurs after Ange Postecoglou deemed the defender redundant.

Tottenham may have considered sacking Sergio Reguilon at the start of last season. However, they only found Atletico Madrid, who were only willing to take him on loan, as a loan player. His stay in Madrid was unsuccessful, as the 27-year-old made only 12 appearances in a season marred by injuries.

He returned to Tottenham in the summer, but soon found no place in the plans of Ange Postecoglou. A late chance came when he was loaned out to Manchester United at Old Trafford, where he made 12 appearances.

Manchester United wanted him in an injury crisis, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw absent and Erik Ten Hag left without a recognisable left-sided defender. With the first-team stars back in action, the Red Devils have taken advantage of the break clause in his contract to send Reguilon back to Spurs. The north Londoners are keen to increase his value and send him on another loan spell.

Tottenham believe that a good loan deal, in which the Spaniard could play regularly, could increase his market value and put him at the top of the sales list. That’s why Spurs are cautious enough not to select him in Postecoglou’s matchday squad. If the 27-year-old does play for the team, he may not be able to play for another team this term.
