“He can comfortably play in 5 positions, Mikel Arteta has gotten his secret weapon to win the League” – Man Utd man drops his ego, praises Arsenal star responsibile for winning all 3 points for the Gunners at Brentford, NOT Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice or Kai Havertz

Man Utd man drops his ego, praises Arsenal star responsibile for winning all 3 points for the Gunners at Brentford.

Owen Hargreaves has lauded Kai Havertz after he scored the winner for Arsenal against Brentford on Saturday.

The German international, who played left-back for his country during the international break, came off the bench to score a late header and send Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal top of the Premier League table.

Owen Hargreaves labelled Kai Havertz as a ‘really talented’ player and someone who can play ‘five positions’, as he told Premier League Productions (25/11/23 at 7:40 pm).

But the former Manchester United midfielder thinks that the player himself doesn’t know his best position and it’s something he needs to sort out in order to get his engine going on a consistent basis.

It’s fair to say that not many Arsenal players have taken verbal hits as Kai Havertz has following his big-money transfer from Chelsea in the summer.

Before the 24-year-old could even walk through the doors, he was being dubbed a flop, but now he produced his best moment yet in an Arsenal shirt.

“Actually, I feel a little bit for him because he is a really talented player,” said Hargreaves. “He is almost too versatile.

“Midweek for Germany he played as a left-back or wing-back. Today he came on and played as a centre-forward.

“Tell me another player in the world who can do that? Who can play as a right winger and number ten? He has an amazing skill set. Technically he is very good. I think one of his most underrated attributes is his heading.

“Kai can play five positions. But, at some point, someone needs to say ‘Kai, we need you to play there’. I think if he can play there for a full season, then he can be a brilliant player. But I don’t think he knows. Naturally, he is a number ten, but Odegaard plays there.”

Much-needed goal for Havertz:

This is a huge moment for Havertz and he has to run with it if he wants to get his career going for Arsenal.

The treatment towards him has been a little unfair because he has been brought in for the long term, yet he is being judged as someone who won’t work out even though he has been at the club for a few months.

The best way to judge Havertz is when the awards are handed out at the end of the season because that’s when Arsenal want to be Premier League champions.

And so far, they are leading the charge (BBC Sport), with Manchester City and Liverpool recording a score draw yesterday.
