“Spurs will lose their Target without him” – Pundit bodies Son Heung-min and James Maddison, names the ONE Spurs key player that will make Tottenham worst if he gets injured

Tottenham have been very unlucky with injuries this season.

James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Rodrigo Bentancur have all missed significant periods of this season due to injuries.

However, the most frustrating injury for Tottenham this season has been that of Micky Van de Ven.

The Dutchman missed most of November and all of December with a hamstring problem, and Spurs were simply not the same team without the 22-year-old.

Scott Minto spoke on the Premier League All Access podcast about Van de Ven and his importance to this Spurs team, saying that if the £35 million player gets injured again, Tottenham will not be the same team.

An injury to Micky Van de Ven would affect Tottenham:

Minto spoke about the defender.

“What you need and what they will aspire to is to have three or four central defenders who also have that kind of speed. Romero is quick, but he’s not lightning quick, and if Van de Ven gets injured again, Spurs won’t be the same side anymore,” Minto said.

Not so crucial:

Van de Ven is incredibly important to this Tottenham team, but an injury at this point might not be as damaging as it was last time.

Although Tottenham did not have a replacement for Van de Ven available in November, the January signing of Radu Dragusin changed things somewhat.

Let’s not forget that Spurs had to use the central defender duo of Ben Davies and Emerson Royal for most of the period when Van de Ven was out, but if that happens again, Spurs will be able to use Dragusin and Cristian Romero – that’s a significant upgrade.

In an ideal world, Van de Ven won’t get injured again, of course, but if he does, Spurs should be able to deal with him better than last time.
