Arsenal confirms £45m star may be sold in January after failing Mikel Arteta once again, the money will be used to chase the signing of Douglas Luiz.

Arsenal look set to enter the market for a midfielder in the January transfer window, and Thomas Partey may be sold.

The 30-year-old has spent most of this season injured, and may not feature again until February as he continues his recovery ahead of the African Cup of Nations.

Arsenal are seemingly keen on a midfielder, with Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa the reported main target, and should he arrive, Partey may be moved on as Mikel Arteta may feel he can no longer rely on him to stay fit.

Thomas Partey could leave Arsenal:

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones claimed that Partey leaving Arsenal in January is a very real possibility, following interest from Juventus and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

“It is definitely possible. It is heading towards probable that he ends up leaving Arsenal. Clubs are starting to understand the situation that will be needed to sign him,” he stated.

“I think that the fact he has had a couple of injuries this season makes it a little bit more difficult because clubs will be a little bit more wary about what they’re actually getting here.

“They’ll want to know the full story around what is going on with Thomas Partey right now and how he is feeling personally. What is the situation surrounding him right now? There’s a lot to take in here, I think.

“But, certainly, his time at Arsenal is ticking down. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ended up leaving in January.”

Partey’s possible Arsenal departure:

Despite being one of Arsenal’s most important players last season, it is clear that Arsenal cannot rely on Partey to stay fit now, having struggled with his fitness since his £45m move from Atletico Madrid three years ago.

Jorginho has impressed in recent weeks in his absence, but Arsenal will now target a midfielder who can fit in alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Luiz looks unattainable for now, but Andre from Fluminense is among the targets Edu Gaspar is looking at ahead of the winter window, and it seems that a central midfielder is the priority ahead of a striker.

Arsenal are now top of the Premier League ahead of another potential title challenge, but whilst the side have been strong defensively, the attack is not flowing as freely as it did last season, and another midfielder who can progress the ball like Partey may be the solution to this problem.

Partey’s value is only going to decrease given his age and injury problems, and if a suitable offer arrives in January, it seems that he will be allowed to depart.
