The expected reunion of Harry Kane and Eric Dier at Bayern Munich could be short-lived, as the club is reportedly planning to part ways with the defender in the summer.
According to a recent report by Sport Bild (via Daily Mail), Bayern have serious concerns about Dier’s ability, in particular his lack of pace, which is said to be unsuitable for the Bundesliga giants.
Despite Dier signing a loan deal with Tottenham in January, with an option to extend his loan for a further 12 months in the summer, the latest report suggests that he will soon return to north London.
Dier has made just five appearances for Bayern so far, starting three of them. Thomas Tuchel’s team, however, have struggled, losing their last two Bundesliga games and being knocked out in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Lazio, with Dier watching from the bench.
Eric Dier will return to Tottenham:
If Dier returns to Tottenham, it is very likely that the club will try to sell him in the summer. Dier has made just one Premier League appearance under Ange Postecoglou, in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves. After the summer signing of Micky van de Ven and the January signing of Radu Dragusin, Dier has fallen considerably down the club hierarchy.
If this report is true, his agent might already be looking at possible summer transfers. Dier will be keen to play this weekend when Bayern take on RB Leipzig on Saturday.
The English defender is hoping to secure a regular place in Bayern Munich’s starting line-up as the England national team will soon be selected ahead of Euro 2024, which will be hosted by Germany. Now, however, it seems that the move has come to nothing and his future is in doubt, as his parent club Tottenham Hotspur has no role for him to play.
