The last time the Miami Heat lost in Denver was in Game 5 of the 2023 NBA Finals.
Unfortunately, Thursday night brought the same result as Denver defeated the Heat in a comeback attempt.
“Such a winnable game,” user HeatCulture said. “We had no excuses to lose this at all, Jimmy and Bam should’ve done more earlier to start the game, Rozier had a weird night, offense lacked quality and barely any bench production besides Caleb. Gotta win our next two home games.”
Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler got off to slow starts, which explained why the Fever trailed for most of the game. They found themselves in a hole in the first quarter and then had another deficit at the end of the fourth quarter. They came back each time, but never really managed to beat the Nuggets.
Terry Rozier was the top scorer behind Butler with 19 points, but the new star shot just 13% from three-point range.
It didn’t help that Michael Porter Jr. had 30 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Porter Jr. had a couple of breakout games shooting the ball, so naturally he came back with one of his best performances of the season on Thursday night.
The Heat will play the Utah Jazz (27-33) on Saturday night.
