A European club is expected to secure the signature of Tottenham’s rising star before the summer.
Over the last few years, the Spurs academy has produced some very promising talents such as Oliver Skipp, Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine, Troy Parrott and most recently Jamie Donley.
Tottenham’s Under-21s are currently top of the Premier League 2 standings, having remained unbeaten this season and won 11 of their 12 league games – a very promising sign that the N17 Academy is still thriving.
The Lilywhites still have a lot of promising young talent coming through their youth system, such as striker Mikey Moore, who has scored an incredible 12 goals and 7 assists in 10 Premier League Under-18 games this season.
Despite these excellent signs, Spurs Head Coach Ange Postecoglou is adamant that there is still a lot of work to be done at this level.
“I think there is still a lot of work to be done in our academy and Simon Davies is certainly the one who is putting a lot of emphasis and priority there,” Postecoglou recently said about Tottenham’s academy.
“I don’t think we have the production line that other top clubs have, certainly not. Even at the moment, that’s why we are investing in some younger players, also for the first team. For us as a football club, this is definitely the way forward. At the moment, I am still focusing mainly on the first team and building the first team, which we can do by giving opportunities to young players.
“If anything, I think it’s the best way to go for sustainable success, because a team grows together if there are boys of similar age, if there is good experience around them.
“We do it at first-team level. At academy level we still have a lot of work to do. Simon is a great guy who has worked in some of the best academies and knows what it takes. We have some good coaches there now. This year has been better, but I think we are still far behind other clubs in terms of young player production.”
After Postecoglou’s comments about Spurs’ production line, it seems that it is young defender Rio Bromfield who will definitely not break into the first team.

Bromfield is expected to join Borussia Monchengladbach from Tottenham ahead of next season, according to Gladbach Live, translated by Sport Witness.
