New York City boss Nick Cushing has said it is his “fantasy” to one day manage Everton.
The 39-year-old, who hails from Chester, has been at Yankee Stadium since 2022 and led his current club to 11th place in the Eastern Conference last season.
Cushing is a boyhood fan of the Blues and has revealed that it is his dream to sit in the dressing room at Goodison Park.
He told The Mirror (3 March): “It’s not a fantasy for me, but given it’s Everton, it might still be a fantasy. I was a season ticket holder from the age of three to 18, and I took my two sons to Goodison Park in December to watch us lose to Fulham on penalties in the Carabao Cup.
“I was at the FA Cup finals in 1995 and 2008, I was at Wimbledon when we got promoted, and my dad goes to every game. My ambition is to perform at the highest level and every time I’ve stepped up I’ve never felt it was a challenge beyond my capabilities.”

Cushing has won 31.25 per cent of his games since taking charge of New York City and would be an interesting option for Everton should they decide to transfer him in the future.
The Englishman was not a player and was promoted to coach at Manchester City.
He then spent eight years, between 2012 and 2020, as manager of City’s women’s side, with whom he won the Super League in 2016.
Cushing then moved to America and became an assistant at New York City under former Cheltic boss Ronny Deila, helping the Blues win the MLS Cup in his first year on the other side of the pond before taking the top job.
There is obviously a big difference in quality between the Premier League and MLS, but there is no doubt that things are getting better there, especially with the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
Cushing is a name to watch in the future because of his links with Everton. His immediate task will be to help New York City fight for the top of the table again.
