Thilo Kehrer has moved from West Ham to AS Monaco, although the player refused to confirm this.
SportBILD reports that the defender was interviewed today and asked if a deal had been agreed.
Kehrer joined Monaco in the summer as a loan player from West Ham, after being relegated to the bottom of the standings at the London Stadium last season.
He has been a regular for the club since arriving from PSG, but found himself increasingly out of the game last season as Moyes settled on a side without him and achieved success by winning the Europa League Conference.
As a result, Kehrer decided to leave in the summer, keen to play regularly elsewhere to secure a place in the Germany squad for Euro 2024 this summer.
The loan agreement between West Ham and Monaco reportedly included a purchase option to be exercised by the Ligue 1 team in the summer, but SportBILD reports today that it was actually a clause linked to various achievements.
Those achievements have now been met, so the deal worth €11 million is now done and Kehrer will stay in the Principality next season.
Kehrer was asked specifically about this, but refused to comment, preferring to focus on why he decided to transfer in the first place.
“It’s important that I have my role in the team, that I have my position and that I have an open communication with the coach,” he said.
“If that’s the case, I feel good. Knowing the league from my time in Paris and speaking the language, it was very easy to get used to it.
“My goal is to participate in the European Championships at home. I was part of the national team until last June. After that, I didn’t play much at West Ham and so I didn’t provide any arguments for nomination.
“It was important for me to go to a club that was playing for the Champions League. I wanted to be able to play immediately and help the team with my quality.
“The whole package was the best in Monaco. That includes our coach Adi Hütter. He is basically relaxed, but very clear and demanding in his work.”
