Despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, sources in Germany have described the idea of Harry Kane returning to England in the summer as “nonsense”.
Kane left England last summer when he moved to Bayern Munich in a big-money deal worth £86.4 million (Mirror).
While his new club has struggled compared to his usually impeccable standards, with Munich currently trailing the top ten in the Bundesliga, Kane himself has produced excellent results.
The 30-year-old has scored 31 goals and registered eight assists in that period (Transfermarkt).
However, with another trophyless season ahead of him, his decision to leave Spurs is now in doubt, and there are also possibilities that he could return to the Premier League.
Tottenham are known to have a buy-back clause in their contract with Bayern which would give them first right of refusal should Kane return to England.
However, Manchester United (Manchester Evening News) and Chelsea (BBC Sport) are also known to be monitoring the situation.
Is Harry Kane returning to the Premier League?
TEAMtalk has now offered some insight into the situation, revealing that while Kane would be open to a transfer to the Premier League, it is highly unlikely. At least for now.
Sources in Germany have downplayed the idea as “stupid news” and the chances of a move in 2025 are “unknown” for now.
Bayern are known to be happy with Kane’s performance this season and would only consider selling him if they could make a profit on the amount they paid last year.
No club will pay more for Kane now than Bayern did last summer, and I do not believe that the player himself would actually want to admit defeat and return to England with his tail between his legs. At least until he wins something there.
