David Moyes, reflecting on his departure from West Ham after the season’s end, expressed his contentment with the decision and the handling of his exit.
Despite the announcement of his departure and the prospective arrival of Julen Lopetegui as his successor, Moyes emphasized his eagerness to remain actively involved in football, underlining his enduring passion for the sport.
Having returned to West Ham for a second stint in December 2019, Moyes has been an integral figure at the club.
“I want to keep really involved in football. I really love football,” added the Scot on Friday.
While some, like former Premier League striker Chris Sutton, criticized the board for what they perceived as a lack of respect towards Moyes, the departing manager maintained his composure, indicating his satisfaction with the current situation.
Reflecting on his tenure, which saw the club secure Europa Conference League success last season, Moyes emphasized the positive aspects of his time at West Ham, noting the mutual agreement between himself and the club regarding the decision to part ways.
Looking ahead, Moyes expressed his desire to continue his managerial career, affirming his commitment to the profession.
“There are a lot of things in football that can be done a lot better,” added Moyes, who won the Europa Conference League last season.
“But look, I’m really comfortable with the situation. I’m comfortable with the board, so at the moment everything’s fine. It’s football.
“It’s the right decision for both parties, for myself and the club and we’ll go our separate ways having had a really good four-and-a-half years.
“Do I want to stay in management? ‘Yes’ would be the answer to that.”
As Moyes prepares for his final home match against Luton and an encounter with Manchester City, he leaves West Ham positioned ninth in the Premier League standings with two matches remaining.
