CALLUM WILSON calls Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario disrespectful after Newcastle’s defeat in North London.
Vicario taunted Wilson, who missed a header in the second half, and pulled a face at the English striker.
The two eventually clashed, just three days after the Toon stars clashed with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, born in Sunderland, over his derisive remarks following the defeat at Goodison Park.
An exasperated Wilson said: ‘There’s a way to win, isn’t there?
“We saw it during the week when Everton were winning and Jordan Pickford was playing around. The goalkeeper started pulling faces and fiddling after my header.
“I think it’s a lack of respect. I’ve said my piece, we’re grown men and we move on.”
But Tottenham’s No 1 player hit back with an Instagram post: “Respect is given … to everyone who respects me!”
Spurs scored through Destiny Udogie, Richarlison and a Son Heung-Min penalty to break a run of four defeats in five games, with Joelinton replying late on for the Toon. Defender Cristian Romero was lucky to avoid a yellow card for a nasty tackle on Wilson.
Toon’s injuries are increasing and boss Eddie Howe said: ‘I was glad Callum got up because it looked dangerous. But we can’t use that as an excuse.
“Physically we looked tired and there wasn’t much we could do about it. We need to park this game quickly but learn from it.”
Surprisingly, Richarlison’s two goals were the first with his legs since joining Everton for £50m in 2022.
He was returning from groin surgery. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said: “At that moment in the game with the players that were playing on the pitch, it looked like they were in the game. “Since he’s come back, physically he feels a lot better and I think it’s helped him mentally as well.
“It’s not just his goals, but his overall work rate, energy and physicality.”
Postecoglou has moved Son back to a wide position, although he has scored nine Premier League goals as a central striker this term.
The Spurs boss added: “Sonny is still our best performer and I thought a return to the left side would give us more opportunities to score goals.”
