Angry Celtic fans demand Brendan Rodgers DROPS Top-class star in upcoming crucial games after what they spotted from him in victory against Hibernian – Player also nearly cost Hoops in 2-0 win against Hearts

Celtic fans have intensified calls for new signings to replace Liam Scales following his inconsistent performance in the 2-0 victory over Hibernian on Sunday, 11 August.

Despite the win at Easter Road, with goals from Nicolas Kuhn and Callum McGregor securing three points for Brendan Rodgers’ side, it was Scales’ display that attracted criticism from supporters.

His performance was marred by inconsistency and errors, further fuelling concerns about his suitability as a starting defender, particularly with the Champions League looming.

While the centre-back completed 133 passes, made three clearances, and won nine out of 11 duels, these positives were overshadowed by his mistakes.

Only 50 per cent of his long balls reached their target, and he lost possession ten times. His tendency to delay when playing out from the back and his clumsy challenges led to a booking, further frustrating fans.

Celtic supporters have been calling for defensive reinforcements throughout the summer, and Scales’ erratic showing has heightened those demands. Many now fear that without strengthening the backline, the team could be vulnerable when European competition begins.

Football Insider had earlier reported fans’ growing frustration over the lack of transfer activity, with the outcry now focused on securing a new centre-back. Scales, labelled “appalling” and “a liability” by angry fans on social media, is seen as a weak link in Rodgers’ squad.

As the club’s Champions League campaign draws nearer, pressure mounts on the board to act swiftly and bolster the defence. Supporters are now insisting that Scales be replaced “ASAP” to ensure Celtic are ready for the challenges ahead.
