As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic are expected to dominate the headlines for two main reasons.

First, Brendan Rodgers has already signaled his intent to bolster the squad, emphasizing the need to add “goals and creativity.”

Given that Celtic scored their 52nd league goal of the season in a win over St Johnstone yesterday, this ambition must send a strong message to their rivals.

Second, with the quality Rodgers has at his disposal, it’s inevitable that Celtic players will attract attention from other clubs. One standout is Cameron Carter-Vickers, who continues to enjoy an excellent season at the heart of the defense.

Carter-Vickers has recently been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. While no formal offer has materialized, it’s believed the defender has aspirations to return to the English Premier League.

After the St Johnstone match, Rodgers addressed these rumors with composure, downplaying speculation about the £6m-rated defender.

Rodgers told the Daily Record:

“I suspect there will be interest in all our players and lots of gossip and speculation going about. But no, I think our idea is to improve our squad.

“To be honest, I don’t need to say anything. I just relax and work with the players, and we want to improve the squad and whatever happens, happens.”

When asked about his transfer plans for the upcoming window, Rodgers expressed a desire to strengthen the team:

“We hope so. I think I always like to add goals to my teams in January where I can, to add that threat and that freshness to the squad.

“We were able to do that last January with Nicolas [Kuhn] and Adam [Idah], which was great for us. We’ll look to do the same.

“If I look at it now, 12 months on to where we were this time last year, we are in a really, really good place. However, we want to keep improving. So, we hope to be able to do that.”

Carter-Vickers has been a rock at the back for Celtic, solidifying their defense and earning high praise for his performances. His presence is critical to the Hoops’ backline, which looks far stronger when he is on the pitch.

Here are five of Carter-Vickers’ best games for Celtic this season, as rated by Fotmob:

Hibernian 0 – 2 Celtic: 8.1

Aberdeen 0 – 1 Celtic: 8.0

Hearts 1 – 4 Celtic: 7.9

The American defender continues to be one of Celtic’s most dependable players, making him an integral part of Rodgers’ squad. Whether he stays or leaves in the future, Carter-Vickers has undoubtedly cemented his place as one of the team’s key performers.
