Unsatisfied Sean Dyche shares the MAIN issue he’s having with his Everton players despite comfortable 2-0 win at Ipswich

Everton cruised to a comfortable victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday, putting some of their away-day troubles to rest. Although the hosts offered little resistance, Sean Dyche’s side still had to create and convert their chances—and they did just that with style.

Both goals were superbly taken. Iliman Ndiaye opened the scoring with a composed finish, while Michael Keane added a second, showcasing his knack for contributing crucial goals from defence.

However, despite the win, Dyche remained measured in his post-match reflections, pointing to areas where improvement is still needed.

Dyche, known for his level-headed approach, was keen to temper expectations.

“In many different areas, we looked a threat, and maybe you could argue the main gripe is that we didn’t score more goals,” he said.

“But our game management was good today. People have questioned that, but it shows the team are learning—doing the hard bit, the ugly bit, to make sure we looked after ourselves. So, there were a lot of pleasing aspects.”

The Everton manager also paid tribute to the travelling supporters.

“I must say, our fans have filled the away end again. It’s a long journey after some terrible weather, so I thank them for their support as well.”

Dyche praised both goals but highlighted Keane’s contribution in particular.

“We know Keano is a very good finisher, and we want goals to come in different ways, so I’m pleased with that,” he added.

“The most pleasing part, though, was how we handled the game. It’s not easy coming to these grounds because they’re full of energy and belief.”

Ipswich briefly thought they might have a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty, but VAR overturned the decision, extinguishing their hopes of a comeback.

While Dyche was satisfied with the win, he knows there is still much work to do. Everton have now gone four matches unbeaten, turning the tide after four consecutive losses, but the challenge is to build on this momentum.

Next weekend’s clash with Fulham at Goodison Park presents another test. The Toffees have struggled against the Cottagers in recent years, failing to beat them at home since 2018 and losing their last three Premier League meetings. Securing at least a point would be a step in the right direction for Dyche’s men.

Following Fulham, Everton travel to Southampton, currently languishing in 19th place. With two winnable fixtures ahead, Dyche will be hoping to push his side into a strong position before the demanding Christmas schedule kicks in.
